New Year: New You

I find it fitting that my first blog post is happening as we are getting ready to end 2018 and start 2019. While one doors closes, another opens.

It’s that time of the year again when many of us go into a mad panic thinking, “Where on earth did the year go? And what’s up ahead in the new year?”

I can’t help but wonder if people allow the year to disappear without really living it or being truly present in every moment ... that's why I turn to the tarot!

To start fresh in the New Year, I like to look at the Major Arcana of the Tarot, specifically focusing on the "Fool's Journey" ...

The Fool's Journey is a metaphor for the journey through life, and each card in the major arcana symbolizes the different stages on that journey.

The Journey begins with the fool, which is a card of beginnings. The Fool stands for each of us as we begin our journey of life. He is a fool because only a simple soul has the innocent faith to undertake such a journey with all its hazards and pain. While he may not realize it in the beginning, through the pain and hazards, the fool grows, develops and blossoms ... though he may belief his path is laid out for him, his responses to the turns, obstacles and challenges while he's on the path are what shapes and guides him through his journey.

Just like Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, the fool has had the power all along ... all he has to do is believe in himself and click his heels three times!
